Shebeshxt’s bail application adjourned for judgement
Lekompo artist Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, returned to the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court in Limpopo earlier this morning.
The matter had been adjourned on Thursday last week and reconvened on Monday, 15 December 2025, to allow both the State and the defence to conclude their closing arguments.

During arguments, the State raised concerns regarding claims made by the defence about the artist’s personal circumstances. State prosecutor Kgaugelo Lekoloane told the court that there was no confirmation that the alleged eight-year-old child, said to be living with her mother in Krugersdorp, exists or is financially supported by the accused.
Lekoloane further argued that the accused had allegedly approached witnesses and victims through friends, threatening them to withdraw cases. The State maintained that although Shebeshxt is not in custody for previous convictions and is not on parole, he had been charged in other matters, released on bail, and allegedly continued committing offences.

The prosecution argued that these factors demonstrate a pattern of disregard for the law and that the bail application should therefore not succeed.
The defence disputed these claims and asked the court to consider bail. The matter has been adjourned for judgment in the bail application, that will be delivered on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at 11:30.
