Five people killed in N1 Limpopo accident
Five people died in a horrific accident involving three motor vehicles on the N1 next to Boekenhout, Mookgophong, in Limpopo on Wednesday.
A Renault light motor vehicle was making a U-turn on the freeway, causing a head-on collision with a Ford light delivery vehicle and a Toyota light delivery vehicle.

The possible cause of the accident is reckless driving, potentially due to a drunk driver. The deceased were two male drivers and three occupants.
**PUBLIC NOTICE**

Meanwhile, two passengers are seriously injured, while two female passengers and one child are in a critical condition. One person has a minor injury.

MEC for the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, MEC Violet Mathye, has expressed shock and extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the 5 people who lost their lives.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives in this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those who have passed away,” said MEC Mathye.
“The possible cause of the accident is reckless driving, potentially due to a drunken driver. We urge all road users to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of others,” said MEC Mathye.
All patients were transported to FH Odendaal Hospital in the Waterberg District.
