Limpopo sergeant shoots and kills his police girlfriend
A 40-year-old police sergeant shot a 31-year-old constable, who is alleged to be his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself at the Ritavi Police Station in Nkowankowa, Limpopo.
According to preliminary reports, the sergeant allegedly went to the constable’s rental residence earlier in the day, where a heated altercation broke out between the two.

Feeling threatened, the constable contacted the Ritavi Police Station for assistance. An officer was dispatched and safely escorted her back to the station, where she was expected to receive further support and protection.
In a shocking turn of events, the sergeant reportedly followed the pair to the station. Upon arrival, he confronted the constable and fatally shot her inside the police premises. Moments later, he turned the gun on himself, dying instantly.
Police management in Limpopo have expressed deep concern over the rising number of domestic-related incidents involving officers. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has opened an inquest and a murder docket as investigations continue.

The identities of both officers will be released once their families have been formally notified.
The Limpopo SAPS has also confirmed that psychological support services are being provided to colleagues who witnessed the tragic event.
