Taxi violence ensues in Zebediela
A taxi violence incident resulted in the damage of six taxis, the assault of a driver and a woman taking pictures of the incident at the DISCO Fourways Taxi Rank in Moletlane, Zebediela in Limpopo. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, around 14:00 along Mogoto Road.
It is alleged that a group of taxi drivers from a rival taxi association attacked taxi drivers affiliated with another association.

In one incident, a taxi driver was driving a Toyota Quantum when he was allegedly blocked by a group of taxi drivers.
**PUBLIC NOTICE**

The suspects reportedly opened the vehicle door and slapped the driver, while others pelted the vehicle with stones, damaging the bumper and windows.
In a separate incident, five other taxis were damaged with stones and sticks while parked at the DISCO Fourways Taxi Rank.

During the incident, a female passerby was also allegedly assaulted after the suspects accused her of taking pictures of the attack.
Police have opened six cases of malicious damage to property and two cases of common assault at Moletlane Police Station. The suspects have not yet been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the violent conduct linked to taxi disputes.
“Taxi violence threatens the safety of commuters, motorists, and innocent community members,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
“Police will not tolerate this type of criminality, and we will ensure that those responsible are traced and brought to justice.”
