Six suspects arrested following taxi violence in Zebediela
Police in Limpopo have arrested six suspects aged between 29 and 49 on Thursday, 12 March 2026, in connection with a taxi violence incident in Moletlane, Zebediela.
The incident resulted in damage to six taxis and the assault of two victims on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. It reportedly occurred at the DISCO Fourways Taxi Rank in Moletlane and along Mogoto Road.

It is alleged that a group of taxi drivers from a rival taxi association attacked taxi drivers affiliated with another association.
During the incident, a female passerby was also allegedly assaulted after the suspects accused her of taking pictures of the attack.
**PUBLIC NOTICE**

Following the incident, members of the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit conducted a targeted operation on Thursday, 12 March 2026, in the Zebediela and Moletlane policing areas, which led to the arrest of the six suspects believed to be members of the rival taxi association.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 13 March 2026, facing charges of malicious damage to property and two counts of assault common.
Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has praised the swift arrest of the suspects.
“The quick response by members of the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit demonstrates our commitment to decisively deal with taxi-related violence in the province,” she said.
“We will continue to ensure that those responsible are brought before the courts,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
