R81 Ga-Sekgopo accident victims laid to rest
The mass funeral for the 12 congregants who died in a tragic accident on the R81 near Ga-Sekgopo took place at the Roman Tigers Sports Ground in Tiyani Village, Limpopo, on Saturday.
The victims were returning from a church service in Sebayeng Village when the devastating collision involving two heavy-duty trucks and a minibus taxi occurred on Sunday, 28 September 2025.

Reports from eyewitnesses suggest that one of the trucks may have experienced brake failure moments before impact.
Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba attended the funeral service to pay her respects and delivered a heartfelt eulogy.
She emphasised the importance of community and Ubuntu, calling on the community to come together to nurture the children who lost their parents.
“To the bereaved families, I stand here not only as your Premier but as a fellow human being who feels the weight of your loss. In moments like these, words often fail to convey the profound sorrow we carry,” said Premier Dr Ramathuba.

“I urge all of us to offer our support not merely in words but in meaningful actions. Let us not make empty promises that will fade like whispers in the wind. Instead, let us stand firm in our commitment to these children,” she added.
“To the families, your pain is our pain and your grief is shared by all of us present here today. We stand together in solidarity, ready to shoulder the burden of your sorrow and to help carry you into a future that honours the memories of those you have lost.”
