All systems go for Fetakgomo-Tubatse ward 34 by-election
The IEC in Limpopo has announced its readiness for the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality ward 34 by-election taking place on Wednesday, 3 September.
The ward vacancy, previously represented by the African National Congress [ANC], occurred due to the death of the Ward Councillor.

It is made up of ten Voting Districts in the vicinities of Ga Mokgotho, Monametse, Atok Sefateng, Bogalatladi, Mmashikwe, Mphaaneng and Malomanye villages respectively.
Special voting will take place at the voting stations, as well as through home visits on Tuesday, 02 September 2025, between 08:00 and 17:00.
The IEC has also issued a reminder that it is a criminal offence to register and vote in a ward in which they are not ordinarily resident.
If a voter is caught committing that offence, they may be fined or may be sent to prison for up to ten years

Voters are also reminded to bring either their green bar-coded ID, smartcard ID or a valid temporary identification certificate.
The following candidates will be contesting for the ward:
Mahlatse Mathipa of African National Congress [ANC]
Florah Phaswane Leshabane of Bolsheviks Party of South Africa [BPSA]
Kgoropedi Albertinah Mokgotho of Defenders of the People [DOP]
Edwin Smaemae Matlou of Economic Freedom Fighters [EFF]; and
Lefakgomo Bauba Makgopa of South African Communist Party [SACP]
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 Local Government Elections was 46.36%.
