Thumbs up ahead of the Makhado ward-9 by-election
The Electoral Commission [IEC] in Limpopo have announced its readiness for the By-election taking place on Wednesday, in ward 9 of Makhado Local Municipality.
The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress (ANC), and became vacant as a result of the death of the ward councillor.

The ward has a current total of 4194 registered voters. It is made up of five Voting Districts (VDs). Voting Stations will open at 07:00 and close at 21h00 on Wednesday the 2nd of April 2025.
The current registration figures in the ward are 4194 voters.
CANDIDATES CONFIRMED AHEAD OF MAKHADO WARD-9 BY-ELECTIONS
The following candidates will be contesting ward 9 of Makhado Local Municipality:
Khumbudzo Madzhini of African National Congress (ANC);
Fhatuwani Mugwena of African People’s Convention (APC);
Maria Alida Wentzel of Democratic Alliance (DA); and
Ranideshvari Agambaram Naidoo of Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK).
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 Local Government Elections was 44.69%. Special voting will take place at the voting stations, as well as through home visits on Tuesday, the 1st of April 2025 between 08h00 and 17h00.
Voting stations include, Louis Trichardt Skousaal, Makhado Comprehensive Secondary School, Fhembeledzani Primary School, Matshavhawe Primary School and Khunda Primary School.
