Peter Mokaba Stadium to host Bafana Bafana in March
Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor John Mpe has confirmed that an agreement has been reached with SAFA for the Peter Mokaba Stadium to host a Bafana Bafana match in March.
The stadium is regarded as one of the best in the country since being constructed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It’s currently the home of Sekhukhune United.
Other clubs such as Polokwane City, Magesi FC, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United also use it as their alternative home.

Over the past few months, there has been speculation that the City was interested in hosting the FIFA World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Lesotho. The match is scheduled for 17 March.

JOHN MPE CONFIRMS THAT THE PETER MOKABA STADIUM WILL HOST BAFANA BAFANA
Mpe has now confirmed that the match will be played in Polokwane after a deal with SAFA.
“The Bafana Bafana game we have already announced that we have confirmation from SAFA that we will host the match between Bafana Bafana and Lesotho,” said Mpe.
“It’s a World Cup qualifying game. So it’s confirmed. The new Peter Mokaba Stadium will be ready by that time. We are just busy making sure that in the next few weeks we will make some announcements about the progress made [at the stadium]. So it will be ready for that international game.”
Mpe has also revealed that the Municipality was also keen on hosting a domestic Cup final soon. He also indicated that they were in talks with the PSL top host the Nedbank Cup Final.
“We are also in discussion with SAFA about one friendly match between Bafana and Cameroon that they are planning. If possible we would be very happy to host Bafana Bafana more,” he said.
“The Finals we are also discussing with the PSL about the Nedbank Cup. So we are just looking forward to finalizing with them.”
