Seventh body recovered after fatal R518 crash in Waterberg
Police in Limpopo have confirmed the recovery of a seventh body following a horrific motor vehicle accident that occurred on the R518 road near Mogalakwena Bridge, between Tinmyne and Masodi Village, Limpopo on Wednesday, 24 December 2025.
The accident occurred at 09:30 when a white Suzuki mini truck, travelling from Mokamole towards Mokopane, was allegedly involved in a crash after hitting a bridge barrier.

Six people including four adult males and two adult females, were declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Five adults and two children sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their conditions were not immediately disclosed.
Due to concerns that more occupants may have been swept away by the strong river currents, police divers and search-and-rescue teams launched an extensive search operation along the river. The search continued for two days.

On Friday, 26 December 2025, the body of a seventh male victim was recovered more than one kilometer downstream from the original accident site. The discovery brought a somber end to the search efforts.
Police have opened a case of culpable homicide and confirmed that investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
