2-year-old girl killed on N1 Limpopo accident
A tragic road accident on the N1 near Tobias in Limpopo has claimed the life of a two-year-old girl, once again highlighting the devastating consequences of reckless driving.
The fatal crash occurred on Friday afternoon when a Volkswagen sedan and a Mercedes-Benz sedan collided head-on.

Following the initial impact, the Mercedes-Benz reportedly side-swiped a Toyota heavy motor vehicle travelling on the same route. The toddler, who was a passenger in the Mercedes-Benz, succumbed to her injuries.
Emergency services confirmed that one occupant from the Volkswagen sedan sustained critical injuries. In the Mercedes-Benz, one passenger was seriously injured, another moderately injured, while the driver and an additional passenger suffered minor injuries. All injured individuals were rushed to Mokopane Hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary investigations by authorities suggest that reckless driving, particularly dangerous overtaking, may have been the primary cause of the collision.

The South African Police Service, with assistance from traffic officials, has launched a full investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The N1 was temporarily closed, but has reopened to traffic.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and reiterated its commitment to strengthening road safety awareness and enforcing traffic laws to prevent similar tragedies.
