Limpopo welcomes 38 Christmas Day babies
MEC for Health in Limpopo, Dieketseng Mashego, has welcomed the birth of 38 newborn babies across the province on Christmas Day, 25 December 2025, from midnight until 06h00 this morning.
According to the preliminary statistics recorded during this period, 22 girls and 16 boys were safely delivered at various public health facilities across Limpopo.

Sekhukhune District recorded the highest number of births with 13 babies, followed by Vhembe and Mopani Districts, which also recorded encouraging numbers.
MEC Mashego has expressed her appreciation to all healthcare professionals on duty during the festive season for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to ensuring safe deliveries and quality maternal and newborn care.

“The birth of a child on Christmas Day is a powerful symbol of hope, renewal and joy,” she said.
“We congratulate all families and commend our health workers who continue to serve our communities selflessly, even on special days such as Christmas,” added MEC Mashego.
The MEC further reassured the public that the Limpopo Department of Health remains committed to strengthening maternal, neonatal and child health services, and ensuring that all mothers and newborns receive dignified, safe and quality care throughout the festive season and beyond.
