ANCYL in Limpopo demands blue lights for its chairperson
The ANCYL in Limpopo has intensified its demand for the appointment of its Chairperson, Faith Sebopela, as an MEC in the province.
The Youth League wants Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba to reshuffle her cabinet so that it also aligns with the ANC provincial leadership following the recent 11th provincial conference.
Dr Ramathuba was elected as the provincial chairperson of the ANC unopposed at the provincial conference held in Polokwane last month.
Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor John Mpe was elected as deputy chairperson, Vhamusanda Reuben Madadzhe as provincial secretary, Pule Shai as deputy provincial secretary, and Eddie Maila as provincial treasurer.

Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego, Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Jerry Maseko and Transport and Community Safety MEC Violet Mathye did not make the cut into the list of the new PEC members.
Speaking to the Limpopo Chronicle, Provincial Secretary of the ANCYL, Phineas Sebola, says that Sebopela, who was elected the ANCYL Limpopo chairperson in February 2025, is capable of the task.
“We are saying that we think the new leadership of the ANC must also be able to consider our call,” said Sebola.
“But also rearrange the cabinet because we do not think that it’s normal to have the leadership of the Provincial leadership of the ANC that is not aligned to the government. So we are calling for a reshuffle so that the newly elected leadership must be in the cabinet.
“But importantly, out of all of it, we are requesting that priority must be given to the Provincial Chairperson of the ANCYL. By the look of things, everyone can see, the Premier is even going to other departments because these people are just not there. We can’t see the work that they are doing,” he added.

“They are unable to match the standards and the requirements of this province. They are not delivering anything, and we are saying that at least with the inclusion of the current Chairperson of the Youth League, we think there can be changes. It has been proven before that when you include leaders of the youth league in the cabinet, they do very well. So we think Cde Faith can do most.”
Sebola further added that they do not have a specific portfolio for Sebopela, but need her to be part of the cabinet.
“We think she is capable of taking over any department. She is even capable of being the Premier of this province. So we’re just saying they must just reshuffle cabinets and remove those who are lazy and bring young blood into the cabinet.”
