The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo has confirmed that a docket relating to Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, has been received by the Senior Public Prosecutor at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
NPA provincial spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Ndzangi said Chauke is facing allegations after he was reportedly found in possession of prohibited items while in police custody.

He was among two awaiting-trial prisoners, aged 28 and 30, who were arrested for possession of drugs and other banned items at the Polokwane holding cells.
According to Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, investigations are underway to determine how the items were smuggled into the facility.
Shebeshxt was scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court; however, he did not appear after the docket was reportedly sent to court without charges being enrolled and was found empty.

The NPA confirmed the docket has since been returned to the police for further processing.
It is alleged that officials discovered a smartphone, empty sachets with remnants of an unknown substance, and a drug-smoking pipe during a cell search. Chauke remains in custody and is expected back in court on 18 February 2026.
