R524 Punda Maria road accident kills six people
Six people have died and two others were seriously injured after a vehicle overturned on R524 Punda Maria Road, near Thavhani Mall in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, on Sunday morning.
Four passengers perished on the scene, with the driver and another person, who were both seriously injured, being transported to a nearby hospital.

The two who were seriously injured later on succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number to six. The remaining passenger is still in hospital.
Preliminary reports indicate that the car lost control and veered off the road, scattering passengers all over. The final report from the investigators will determine the exact cause of the accident.

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety Ms Violet Mathye has expressed shock at the incident and sent her condolences.
“On behalf of the Department of Transport and Community Safety and the people of Limpopo, I wish to convey deepest condolences to the families of those who perished and wish the injured one a speedy recovery. I once more urge drivers to drive with care,” said MEC Mathye
“As part of Transport Month, the Department will continue to deploy law enforcement officers throughout the whole province. Drivers are once more urged to be vigilant as they continue with their journeys to different destinations.”
