Driver killed in fatal R71 Phalaborwa accident
A male driver was killed when his light motor vehicle collided with a truck on R71 between Gravelotte and Phalaborwa, Limpopo on Friday.
Preliminary reports suggest that reckless driving may have contributed to the accident, with the light motor vehicle allegedly overtaking on a barrier line and colliding head-on with the truck.

The road has now been reopened for traffic after being temporarily closed for a few hours as emergency services responded to the scene.
This is as second major accident in the Mopani region in a space on two days. On Tuesday, a Toyota light delivery van collided head-on with a Toyota minibus while the van was overtaking on a barrier line.

Sadly, the driver and passenger of the light delivery vehicle were killed in the accident. The driver and six passengers of the minibus sustained moderate to serious injuries and were transported to Letaba Hospital and Van Velden Hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest that reckless driving may have contributed to the accident. A full investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
