23 players identified at Shynebright development tournament
The inaugural Shynebright Entertainment U19 Development Tournament has been hailed as a major success after an action-packed event of grassroots football that saw 23 young players identified for further assessments by top-level football institutions and scouting agencies.
Hosted in the heart of Mafefe Village by Shynebright Entertainment, the tournament brought together budding footballers from across the village, showcasing raw and untapped talent in front of esteemed guests and talent scouts.

Notably in attendance were U20 National Coach Raymond Mdaka, Mamelodi Sundowns Provincial Scout [Limpopo] Ike Pula, and Pontsho Madumo of Cream Sports Management, who played an instrumental role in identifying players with potential to progress to the next level.

These 23 players will be taken into the next phase of assessments in the coming month, with further details to be announced.
The aim is to link them with development academies, scholarships, and professional clubs, thereby creating a tangible pathway from grassroots to elite football.

“What we witnessed in Mafefe was more than just a tournament. It was a movement, a platform for discovery, opportunity, and inspiration,” said Ike Pula. “
“The players identified have the potential to go far, and it’s encouraging to see rural communities produce this level of talent,” he added.
Alongside team and individual success, including Mathole Lakas being crowned champions, the tournament awarded several accolades, with Carlos Mampa stealing the spotlight as Player of the Tournament, Player’s Player of the Tournament, and joint top goal scorer. Abel Koshane and Kgopotso Thobejane were the two other players joint at four goals, with Carlos Mampa.
Justice Makofane (Ganja FC) was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament, while Lenny Mampa earned Coach of the Tournament for his leadership and tactical acumen with Mathole Lakas FC.
The Young Promising Player of the Tournament accolade was awarded to the talented Lehlogonolo Ramphadi of Cape Ramblers FC, whose performances hinted at a bright future ahead.
