Limpopo teacher arrested for rape of 13-year-old
A 58-year-old teacher was arrested on Monday afternoon for an alleged rape incident of a 13-year-old learner in the Capricorn District, Limpopo. The teacher was reportedly on the run since the incident was reported to the Police on 28 March.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the learner was allegedly raped multiple times between November 2024 and 7 March 2025 by the teacher.

On 27 March she was taken to her mother by another educator who informed her of the ordeal. A case of rape was registered for further investigation.
The suspect pretended to be heading to the police station as he drove off with his car. He said he was in Pretoria’s Hammanskraal when he was called, and the phone was turned off.

Meanwhile, MEC for Social Development Florence Radzilani has welcomed the teacher’s arrest. She commended the Police for their relentless pursuit of the suspect, which led to his arrest.
“We commend the relentless and diligent efforts of the Police whose commitment to justice led to the arrest of the suspect. Their swift action serves as a reminder that we must remain vigilant in our pursuit of safety for every child and vulnerable member of our society,” said Radzilani.
“Rape and sexual violence are unconscionable acts that have no place in our community. We condemn these acts in the strongest terms possible and emphasize that such behaviour is not only criminal but also a profound violation of trust and humanity,” added Radzilani.
The suspect is expected to appear before Mankweng Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 02 April 2025, facing a charge of rape.
