Hawks arrest another Limpopo vehicle fraudster
The Hawks in Limpopo have arrested a second suspect [27] for fraud after assisting another accused to apply for motor vehicle finance at WesBank to purchase a Ford Ranger Raptor valued at over R1.3 million using fraudulent documents.
It is alleged that in April 2023, the accused attached the bank statement and the employer’s payslip as requested to apply for finance. The application was subsequently processed and approved.

The dealership contacted the accused to notify him about the success of his application. He went to the dealership in Polokwane to collect a car accompanied by two men [suspects].
However, the accused failed to make the payments, and the bank attempted to contact him without success.
This led WesBank to conduct a forensic audit, which revealed that the accused had used fraudulent documents during his application. Investigations led to the arrest of the first accused person on 02 January 2024.

Further investigations revealed that the arrested suspect assisted the accused in defrauding and collecting the vehicle from the dealership. He was arrested in Groblersdal, Sekhukhune on Saturday, 26 July.
He is expected to appear before the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Polokwane on Monday.
Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province, Major General (Adv) Gopz Govender, has welcomed the arrest of the suspect. He is confident that the Hawks’ SCCI team will crack this case.
