LEDET announces amended Limpopo Liquor Regulations
The Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism [LEDET] have published the amended Limpopo Liquor Regulations.
In recent times there have been discussions regarding trading hours, including a push for no liquor sales after midnight. Liquor traders were urged to convert their licenses to align with the current regulations.

In addition to the new and updated regulation there is a new application type for liquor license holders seeking extension of the building period or amendment of building plans, modification of regulations related to changing core business or extending business and appointment of a manager for licensed premises.
LIMPOPO LIQUOR REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED
The Limpopo Liquor Amendments Regulations 2025, issued under section 69 of the Liquor Act 05 of 2009 hereby allows for closing hours as follows:
Micro-Manufacturers 24hours, 7 days a week
Entertainment [Business areas; Theatre, cinema, dance hall, sports Centre, casino] 10h00 – 04h00
(Areas zoned as residential) 10h00 – 02h00
-On-Site Consumption (with provision of food) 10H00 – 02H00
-Special Events Permit (Business Areas) 10h00 – 04h00
(Areas zoned as residential) 10h00 – 02h00
Amendments also take effect immediately and all applications submitted after 21, March 2025 will be processed under these regulations.
“The Department further notifies license holders and the public that a definition of “Entertainment” in line with the Limpopo Liquor Act refers to a place of entertainment by means of a theatre, cinema, dance hall, sports Centre, casino or a place where legal gambling activities take place.
“The Department is confident that working closely with all license holders and key stakeholders, we can build a thriving liquor industry within the province with the potential of creating jobs, boosting the Provincial economy and creating sustainable livelihoods.”
