ANC Limpopo hints at early provincial conference
The ANC in Limpopo has given an indication that the eagerly awaited provincial conference might sit earlier than anticipated.
The term of office for the current PEC comes to an end in June 2026. It is led by Chairperson Stanley Mathabatha, who is also a former Premier of the province.

However, with the local government elections set to take place next year, the PEC suggests that it would be ideal to elect the provincial leader early.
Addressing the media at the ANC Limpopo Frans Mohlala House, the party’s secretary, Reuben Madadzhe, said the PEC intends to consult its branches on the possibility of convening an early provincial conference.
“The term of office for the PEC comes to an end in June 2026. The possibility of local government elections will be from September and December,” he said.
“Having a conference at this time might jeopardise ANC preparations for the elections. Hence, we wanted to move the conference early next year.”

Meanwhile, Madadzhe says they have not received a report on the much-circulated corruption allegations against Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor John Mpe.
Madadzhe said he can only engage on the matter once they have a report from the ANC Peter Mokaba regional office.
