This prompted the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality Mayor Ngwakwana Mphethi calling for an urgent meeting with affected parties from the association. However, the meeting was attended by one faction of the Eastern Leolo Taxi Association.
Mphethi called on taxi associations to resolve leadership disputes through formal engagements rather than blocking public roads.
“Leadership battles must be fought in the boardrooms and not on the streets where innocent people are affected,” said Mphethi.

“People who are sick were unable to access medical treatment. Those going to work arrived late and others inconvenienced in many ways, this must stop and it is condemned in all forms,” she added.
The municipality said a meeting involving all warring parties and other stakeholders will be convened to address the dispute.
Mphethi also directed the taxi association to remove vehicles blocking roads to restore access and free movement in the town.
