Limpopo young men walk from Musina to Cape Town
Two young men, Charity Bongela and Tumelo Mononela have begun a 2,000km long walk from Musina, Limpopo to Cape Town to raise funds to the professionalization of indigenous games. The pair say they also want to solve the country’s growing unemployment crisis.
Bongela [24] and Mononela [28] set off on their journey on Monday, 21 September to raise awareness around the issue.

The organiser of the initiative, Sipho Maluleke says efforts to engage the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture two years ago on commercialising indigenous games did not bear fruit, prompting them to take further steps.
With Limpopo’s official unemployment rate having increased from 31.7% in the first quarter of 2026 to 32.0% in the second quarter, Maluleke believes they have a solution.
