University of Limpopo finish Varsity campaign with no win
The University of Limpopo have finished their 2026 Men’s Varsity Football campaign without a victory after suffering a 4-1 defeat to Tshwane University of Technology [TUT] in their final match at Oscar Mpetha Stadium on Friday.
UL played seven matches in total, recording one draw and six defeats to finish the campaign with one point.
The Limpopo outfit’s only point came from a 1-1 draw against the University of the Western Cape, with defeats against Durban University of Technology, Wits University, University of Johannesburg, University of the Free State, UP-Tuks and TUT.

The result leaves UL at the bottom of the eight-team Varsity Football log, with one one point, bringing their return to the competition after an eight-year absence to a difficult end.
UL Head coach Lesetja Laka says one of their downfalls this season was their failure to convert chances.
“But story of our game again lacks the conversation of our chances. Others are referring to differences in quality,” said Laka.

“We cannot overlook it but having the majority of our players playing non-league football has an effect at this stage.”
“But it’s up to us as a technical team to instill confidence and technical ability to improve these players because their development is very important in this stage and phases of the tournament.”
