Three MEC’s axed as Premier Ramathuba reshuffle cabinet
Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, has today, Wednesday, 2 September, announced a cabinet reshuffle, with three MEC’s fired from their positions.
Dr Ramathuba says the strategic realignment comes following a rigorous assessment of the performance of the Executive Council, conducted in response to the feedback and lived experiences of the residents of Limpopo and to ensure the administration meets the highest requirements for operational efficiency and service provision.

She emphasised that while the decision was not taken lightly, it is a necessary step to accelerate the province’s developmental agenda.
“Each member of the previous Executive Council has worked tirelessly to advance the ideals and goals of this administration,” said Dr Ramathuba.
”I extend my sincere gratitude to those who have served with dedication in making Limpopo a better place for all. However, as a government, we must constantly evaluate our progress.
“There is always room for improvement and to better serve our people, we must ensure our team is agile, focused and ready to meet the evolving demands of our province,” she added.

The MEC’s who did not make it to the latest cabinet are Dieketseng Mashego [Health], Jerry Maseko [Sport, Arts and Culture[ and Violet Mathye [Transport and Community Safety].
Meanwhile the new members of the Executive Council were officially sworn into office on the morning of 02 September 2026.
The reconstituted Limpopo Executive Council is as follows:
Agriculture and Rural Development: Basikopo Makamu
Education: Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya
Social Development: Florence Radzilani
Transport and Community Safety: Nakedi Kekana
Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET): Dr Tshitereke Matibe
Provincial Treasury: Kgabo Mahoai
Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure: Ernest Rachoene
Sport, Arts and Culture: Constance Kupa-Mabuza
Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA): Pule Shayi
Health: Eddie Maila
