Pitso Mosimane officially unveiled as Bafana Bafana coach

SAFA has officially unveiled Pitso Mosimane to take over from Hugo Broos as the new Bafana Bafana head coach. The 62-year-old returns to the hot seat after 14 years since he was dismissed.

His immediate task will be qualifying for the AFCON 2027 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup taking place in Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.

Mosimane will work with Musi Matlaba (analyst) and Kabelo Rangoaga (conditioning coach) while waiting for the arrival of an assistant coach.

His announcement ends months of speculation after Hugo Broos’s departure and signals a renewed push for success in upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“I have been given the privilege of leading our national team again and I take this responsibility knowing that I still have something to give in football, especially in my country,” he said during his unveiling at the SAFA house.

“I know this is simply not a coaching job. It is bigger than Pitso Mosimane. I understand the weight of this role, the expectations that come with it, and what this team means to South Africa. With pride and determination, I accept the challenge,” added Mosimane.

Mosimane’s first task as the head coach will be the AFCON qualifiers starting in September.
