Limpopo Police commissioner visits survivors of N1 fatal accident

Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers has visited SAPS members who survived a fatal road crash that claimed the life of an unidentified motorist on Friday evening.

Ten SAPS employees from various stations and units in the Waterberg District were injured when a sedan allegedly veered out of its lane and collided head-on with the minibus they were travelling in while returning from winter sporting activities on the N1 next to Astron Garage near Polokwane.

Scheepers, who visited the crash scene on Friday, 28 August, visited the injured members in hospital on Monday and expressed relief at finding them receiving medical care.

He wished the officers a speedy recovery and expressed hope that they would return to duty once fully recovered.

“I wish you well in your journey of recovery and hope to meet you next year during our winter sporting activities,” said Scheepers.

“We remain hopeful that after your full recovery, you will continue to serve this organization and help reset the agenda.”

Meanwhile, the deceased motorist has not yet been identified, while investigations into the crash are ongoing.
