Limpopo snake Cather captures 5.3 metre python in Thabazimbi

Popular snake catcher Denzel Ncube from Vleifontein in Limpopo has successfully captured a massive 5.3-metre Southern African python in Thabazimbi on Friday morning.

The snake is said to have been in the area for some time, with several snake catchers previously attempting to capture it without success.

It was discovered by a yard owner who was clearing the area while preparing a house. The snake was spotted after earthmoving work was being done with a TLB machine.

According to residents, the python had previously swallowed a dog and had been causing fear within the community.

The snake was safely removed from its hiding place inside a hole and relocated to a suitable bush area away from the community.

The capture has brought relief to residents who had been concerned about the presence of the large reptile in the area.

Ncube’s love for snakes was discovered at an early age when he was found playing with a big snake at the age of two. The snake did nothing to him as the two were joyfully playing together until the snake left.

He said that growing up, he sought nothing else to do but expand his knowledge of these creatures, as he was passionate about them.

He says his dream is to start an educational centre to teach the youth about the importance of looking after animals of all kinds, that they do not have to be scared of any animal, and that they should give themselves time to study animals.
