Limpopo man dies by suicide after allegedly attacking his wife
A 42-year-old man allegedly attacked his estranged wife before attempting to set fire to her room, where her children were inside, and later died by suicide in Lwamondo, Limpopo. The incident occurred on Friday, 21 August, at about 11:55.
According to the Limpopo Mirror, the woman survived the attack but sustained serious injuries. Her children were unharmed after neighbours managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread.

The man allegedly returned to the woman’s room after believing that she had died from her injuries and attempted to set the room alight.
He was identified as Ntambudzeni Mamphodo and was allegedly wanted by police in connection with an attempted murder case involving his estranged wife. Police also indicated that he was linked to two other cases.

According to Vhembe police spokesperson Captain Vuledzani Dathi, police were summoned to the scene after receiving a report about the incident.
“The 42-year-old man was found hanging from a tree using shoelaces around his neck. Emergency medical services were called and he was declared dead at the scene,” said Dathi. An inquest docket had been opened and police investigations were continuing.
