State adds more charges in R4 million estate Gagash fraud case

The State has added another charge of fraud in the case of attorney Charlotte Tibana [33] and her husband, TMPD officer Peter Nonyane [36], also known as ‘Gagash’.

The two appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, for continuation of their bail application.

The State successfully applied for joinder of charges after a new complainant from Moetji came forward. The complainant alleges she was defrauded of R1 380 901.50 from a deceased estate that was being handled by Tibana.

The couple now faces multiple counts of fraud and money laundering relating to four deceased estates, with a combined value of over R4 million. It is alleged that part of the funds, R1.65 million, was used to purchase a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63.

The State continues to oppose bail, arguing that Tibana abused her position as executor and attempted to interfere with the investigation.

The bail application was postponed to today, 26 August 2026, for continuation. Both accused remain in custody. The case will continue on Thursday, 27 August 2026 with State witness Colonel Daniel Makuwa still on stand.
