Eight Limpopo artisans nominated for 2026 SA National Artisan Awards
Eight artisans from TVET colleges in Limpopo have been nominated for the 2026 South African National Artisan Awards [SANAA].
The nominees comprise one alumnus from Sekhukhune TVET College, five from Mopani TVET College and two from Capricorn TVET College. They were selected from across the country following a rigorous adjudication process involving industry experts and sector stakeholders.
The SANAA recognise excellence across various trades, including engineering, automotive, construction, electrical, plumbing and mechanical disciplines.

The finalists will be honoured at the SANAA 2026 Awards Ceremony on 5 September under the theme, “Changing Artisanal Identity and Status.” The theme aims to challenge perceptions of artisans and highlight their role as skilled innovators, entrepreneurs and contributors to economic growth.
Minister of Higher Education and Training Buti Manamela said the Department, together with TVET colleges, SETAs, the National Artisan Moderation Body and private-sector partners, has been working to expand artisan training and accelerate artisan production.
“Changing Artisan Identity and Status is not just a theme — it is a call to action,” said Manamela. “It means reshaping societal attitudes so that artisans are respected as builders of nations, innovators, and drivers of industrialisation and local economic development,” added Manamela.

The eight Limpopo nominees are:
Clarence Mokobaki — Sekhukhune TVET College
Charlie Mabunda — Mopani TVET College
Tinyiko Mashudu Malesa — Mopani TVET College
Ngwanamodishe Linah Shoba — Capricorn TVET College
Marvin Maluleke — Mopani TVET College
Craven Sebokoana Moshwana — Mopani TVET College
David Kgaugelo Mogale — Capricorn TVET College
Curl Mthombeni — Mopani TVET College
The SANAA programme seeks to promote technical and vocational careers while positioning artisan professions as respected, rewarding and professional career paths.
The awards also inspire more young people to pursue artisan training and contribute to strengthening the country’s skilled workforce.
