Polokwane Municipality issues update on roads repairs

The Polokwane Municipality, Limpopo has issued an update on the progress of road rehabilitation works across the City.

The Municipality has embarked on major rehabilitation works on several key roads that were damaged by heavy rains or affected by potholes.

To date, work has been completed on the following streets: • Dorp Street; • Burger Street; • Oost Street; • Compensatie Street; • Voortrekker Street; • Jorissen Street; • Mika Street; • Pietersburg Street; Railway Street; • Fosfaat Street; • Emerald Street; • Jasmyn Avenue; • Knox Street; • Wilge Street; • McDonalds Avenue; • Euphorbia Avenue; and • Katjepiering Lane.

Motorists are advised to observe all temporary road closures, diversions, signage and traffic-control measures at all times.

“To date, major rehabilitation works on a number of key roads have been completed, with the remaining work primarily relating to road markings and the associated finishing touches,” said Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Willy Mosoma.

“This progress translates to approximately 80% overall completion of the rehabilitation programme within the city.

“The municipality is continuing with works on sections where rehabilitation and associated construction activities are still underway.”

The Municipality says certain sections remain subject to temporary traffic arrangements, while final works, including road markings, are completed.
