Three Arrested After Tuckshop Looting Spree in Thabazimbi
Three men aged between 19 and 23 have been arrested following a looting spree that targeted foreign-owned tuckshops in the Matikiring Informal Settlement and Regorogile Extension 6 in Thabazimbi.
According to Limpopo police, the incidents occurred between the night of 3 June and the early hours of 4 June 2026, when groups of community members allegedly looted several tuckshops owned by foreign nationals.
Police responded to reports of public violence but were met with resistance, with officers and vehicles pelted with stones. Authorities used rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe warned that law enforcement would not tolerate violence, intimidation, or destruction of property linked to planned marches or gatherings, including those directed at foreign nationals.
She said police would be deployed to identified hotspot areas across the province to prevent looting and maintain public safety.
