Limpopo mother who killed her two sons remanded in custody

A 27-year-old mother who was arrested for poisoning his two sons, who later died, appeared before the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court, Limpopo on Friday 05 June 2026.

Thelma Ntanganedzeni Siphugu was remanded in police custody and the case was postponed to next Friday, 12 June 2026, for bail application and further police investigations.

It is alleged that Siphugu poisoned her two children following a dispute with their father.

On Tuesday, 02 June 2026, police opened a murder case after two brothers were found dead in separate incidents.

At about 11:10, police were summoned to Tshilwavhusiku Health Center following a report of a patient suspected to have been poisoned. On arrival, they were shown the lifeless body of a six-year-old boy lying on a bed.

Preliminary report indicated that the victim’s father who does not reside with him transported the deceased to the clinic at about 09:20 after he complained of stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting earlier that morning.

Later at about 12:30, police received a complaint from a family member regarding a missing 08 year-old male victim while at school. A search was conducted in the area and the victim was found dead at his home in Madabani village.

He was lying on a bed wearing a blue tracksuit top and long tracksuit trousers and members of the Emergency Medical Services declared him dead on their at the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed the two deceased are siblings from Madabani village and both are suspected to have been poisoned.

Police investigations immediately commenced and subsequently led to the arrest of a 27 year-old female alleged to be the mother of the two victims on Wednesday 03 June 2026.

A forensic pathology post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
