78 learners hospitalised after Thabazimbi scholar transport accident
A total of 78 learners, ranging in age from 6 to 14 years old, were transported to the hospital following an accident involving two scholar transport buses in Thabazimbi, Limpopo, on Wednesday.
Preliminary reports indicate that one of the buses allegedly experienced brake failure, which resulted in the collision near Skierlik.
The learners were transported to the Provincial Hospital in Thabazimbi for medical assessment and treatment.

Fortunately, all reported injuries are believed to be minor and consist mainly of shock and non-life-threatening injuries. All of them received counselling at Thabazimbi Hospital.
Provincial Traffic and Local Traffic Authorities responded swiftly to the scene and have impounded both vehicles pending a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Thabazimbi Mayor Andries Tshukudu visited the children at the Provincial Hospital on Wednesday.
“The safety and well-being of our children remain a priority. We commend the emergency services, healthcare personnel, traffic officials, educators and all role-players who responded promptly to assist the affected learners,” said Mayor Tshukudu.
The Municipality says it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as further information becomes available.
“We wish all affected learners a speedy recovery and extend our support to their families during this time.”
