Two teenage girls killed following a hitchhiking in Limpopo
Two young girls, aged 14 and 15, were killed after hitchhiking in an unknown VW Polo motor vehicle to Ga-Motodi village near Burgersfort, Limpopo, on Saturday, 02 May 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicated that four minor girls had accepted a lift in an unknown VW Polo motor vehicle at about 23:00.
According to the police in Limpopo, the vehicle reportedly changed direction towards Alverton, prompting the girls to exit the vehicle while in motion and flee on foot.

While running, two of the girls were struck by a white VW Polo motor vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Police on patrol duties were alerted to the accident at the scene. On arrival, they found Emergency Medical Services personnel who had declared a 14-year-old girl deceased at the scene.

A 14-year-old victim died instantly on the street, and a 15-year-old girl was allegedly knocked off and fell into the river.
Police divers retrieved the lifeless body of the 15-year-old girl from under the bridge on Sunday, 03 May 2026. Tubatse police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
