Limpopo teenager found murdered, her head chopped off

A 16-year-old girl was found murdered in Pharare village, Limpopo, after she and a companion were abducted by unknown suspects on Friday, 01 May 2026.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim and a 17-year-old male were walking in the village when they were approached by occupants of a blue VW Polo.

The suspects, two males and two females, were reportedly wearing masks and armed with firearms.

The pair were forced into the vehicle at gunpoint and driven to a bushy area along a nearby road. At the scene, they were ordered to kneel. The male victim sustained stab wounds to his arm and abdomen but managed to escape.

He later alerted the victim’s family, who returned with him to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased, and police were subsequently notified. A search of the area led to the recovery of additional remains near the body.

Police have opened cases of kidnapping and murder, and investigations are ongoing.
