Ten undocumented Ethiopian nationals arrested in Limpopo
A joint operation targeting spaza shops in the Mopani District, Limpopo, has led to the arrest of 10 undocumented Ethiopian nationals. Additionally, two documented foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly employing undocumented individuals.
The operation, conducted by Limpopo police in collaboration with immigration officers from the Department of Home Affairs, took place in Mokwakwaila, Ga-Mokgwathi, and Ga-Ramotshinyadi villages.

During the operation, 10 Ethiopian male nationals aged between 19 and 35 were arrested for being in the country without valid documentation.
They are facing charges related to contravention of the Immigration Act, while the two other suspects face charges of employing undocumented foreign nationals.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has reaffirmed that police, together with the Department of Home Affairs, will continue conducting joint operations to ensure compliance with immigration laws.
She also urged business owners to verify the legal status of their employees and to refrain from hiring undocumented foreign nationals.
All suspects are expected to appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
