Dr Ramathuba expresses displeasure at Letaba Hospital
Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has expressed dissatisfaction with a contractor over delays in completing the renal and dialysis unit at Letaba Hospital, outside Nkowankowa, Mopani District.
Premier Ramathuba visited the hospital on Tuesday, 28 April, to assess progress following her initial visit on 7 April 2026.
During that visit, the Premier made clear her dissatisfaction with the delay in completing the unit. The premier gave an ultimatum to the Department of Health and the hospital management to complete the unit by 15 April 2026.

“This contractor should have been terminated a long time ago. That’s why even now he just came because he had I was here and I gave him the 15 April deadline,” she said.
“People think I just come and make a lot of noise. I am personalising it because I am losing patients. After all, people can’t get access to renal services.
“Yesterday, we were celebrating Freedom Day. How can you celebrate Freedom Day when you can’t access renal dialysis?
The visit will also include a briefing on the clinical management and condition of the surviving triplet, following the unfortunate passing of two infants.
