Hunt for seven suspects who bombed an empty ATM at Mhinga
Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for seven suspects who allegedly bombed an ATM at Mhinga Village in the Vhembe District in the early hours of Friday, 24 April 2026.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects targeted an unguarded ATM located at a local supermarket.

The incident was detected when an employee from Polokwane ATM Solutions received a tamper alert on his monitoring system, indicating that the ATM door had been forcefully opened.
The employee immediately alerted South African Police Service officers at Saselamani, who responded swiftly to the scene.
Upon arrival, police found the ATM had been extensively damaged after being blasted open using explosives. The damage to the machine is estimated at approximately R500,000.

Despite the destruction, the suspects fled empty-handed, as the ATM did not contain any cash at the time of the incident.
A case of malicious damage to property has been opened, and investigations are ongoing.
