Shebeshxt new bail application postponed
The bail application of Lekompo artist Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, has been postponed to Thursday, 23 April 2026.
The matter was deferred to allow both the defence and the State to address the merits of the application.
Chauke appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo for a new bail application.
This is after he appointed new legal representation, with Attorney Michael Khumalo taking over from his long-time lawyer, Lot Ramusi.

Shebeshxt last appeared in court on 27 March 2026, where it emerged that the defence intended to file a fresh bail application based on new facts
Earlier on the day, Shebeshxt’s private doctor, Dr Malose Chaba, was the first witness to testify on the new facts in the bail hearing.
Dr Chaba told Polokwane Magistrate’s Court that Chauke requires urgent surgery on his left leg due to injuries sustained in a car accident in June 2024.
Dr Chaba further testified that he examined Chauke after his discharge in July 2024 and had begun arrangements to refer him to an orthopaedic surgeon, as he continued to complain of persistent pain in the injured leg, where a screw had been inserted.

During his own testimony, Chauke said his finances have taken a knock after losing out on booked gigs and has highlighted that some of the promoters have threatened legal action as they look to recoup the money lost.
The 31-year-old says he missed out on the birth of his children after his partner gave birth in December 2025 while he was in custody. He also confirmed that he has an 8-year-old child that he is supporting residing in Gauteng.
This is the third bail application made by the musician after his previous two attempts were not successful.
