Municipality explains delay in electricity supply restoration
The Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality in Limpopo has explained to its residents the delay in restoring electricity supply in affected areas.
This is after some areas within the Municipality have been left with no electricity due to damage in essential components of the electricity network.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Municipality has explained that this is due to acts of vandalism on critical infrastructure.
“Our technical team found that essential components of the electricity network were deliberately damaged,” the Municipality said.

The municipality strongly condemns these acts. Our technical officials, consisting of engineers, are working tirelessly to complete repairs and restore electricity as soon as possible. The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.”

Mboweni conducted assessment at the D972 road in Vaalwater that has curved in after heavy rains washed away the box culvert.
Several roads have been affected with sections of roads washed away, posing risk to communities and motorists. She was accompanied by Speaker Sinah Langa, Chiefwhip Mokgadi Dayimane as well as other councillors.
Mayor Mboweni urged residents to exercise caution and avoid affected routes. She further added that lessons have been disrupted in four schools after roads curved in and agricultural and tourism sectors have also impacted as tourists and farmers couldn’t easily access several areas.
The visit form part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to evaluate the impact of the rainfall on road and to prioritise urgent repair to restore accessibility.
