However, the District Municipality says the disruption in the water supply is due to a pipeline currently undergoing repairs.
The pipe reportedly became stuck in a nearby local river and needed an excavation machine to retrieve and position it properly for the repair work.
A joint technical team has begun preparations to start pumping water to the local command reservoir in order to stabilise supply to the affected communities.

The Sekhukhune District Municipality says they previously installed six boreholes in the community last year as a temporary measure while still pursuing a permanent water solution.
Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula, has expressed appreciation to all teams on the ground for their swift response. She thanked residents for working with the Municipality in finding common ground.
Furthermore, a dedicated task team has been established to closely monitor the situation and ensure consistent water provision.
The task team is led by the MMC for Infrastructure, Water and Sanitation Cllr Carpos Ngobeni, which is led by the local Ward Councillor, and will work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that sustainable solutions are implemented.
