ANC retains Polokwane ward 34 following by-election
The ANC has retained Ward 34 of Polokwane Local Municipality, Limpopo, following the by-election on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
The vacancy in the ward occurred due to the death of the Ward Councillor. It was previously represented by the ANC.

The ward is made up of seven villages: Thune, Mamphaka, Spitzkop, Mentz Badimong, Monyonaneng, Makgopheng and Komaneng.
The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Local Government Elections, with 72.02% of the total valid votes cast yesterday. The voter turnout was 39.30%. Matsikinyane Freddy Makgoba is the new ward councillor and was sworn in on Thursday.
