Tshaulu Woodcraft Artisan builds business and creates jobs
Shandukani Nemakumbule (44) from Tshaulu Ha-Begwa Village in the Vhembe District, Limpopo, has transformed a childhood passion for carpentry into a growing local enterprise that is changing lives.
Nemakumbule began working with wood at just 13 years old, learning the craft from his late father.

What started as a skill passed down through generations later became a lifelong calling. In 1995, while still in school, he deepened his knowledge of carpentry and continued refining his talent over the years.
Today, he is the founder and owner of Shanduz Home Décor, a business specialising in handcrafted wooden home décor, functional furniture and custom-made accessories. His work serves households, schools and small businesses within and beyond his community.

Through determination and resilience, Nemakumbule has created part-time employment for more than 20 young people, helping them gain practical skills and income. ”Seeing the youth gain skills and earn an income gives me for the future,” he said.
He hopes to expand his business further and reach bigger markets across Limpopo and beyond.
