One person killed in N1 Limpopo accident
A 55-year-old male driver lost his life in a multi-vehicle accident on the N1 near Botlokwa, Limpopo, on Tuesday.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of an Isuzu light delivery vehicle was travelling from Polokwane to Makhado when he allegedly attempted to overtake on a barrier line. In the process, he side-swiped a Mercedes-Benz heavy motor vehicle.

The impact caused the Isuzu to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic, forcing a Mahindra light delivery vehicle travelling from Makhado to Polokwane to swerve off the road to avoid a collision.
Moments later, a Renault Duster and a MAN heavy motor vehicle, both travelling from Polokwane to Makhado, were involved in a rear-end collision, reportedly due to insufficient following distance amid the unfolding incident.
The 55-year-old Isuzu driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Three passengers from the Isuzu, along with two drivers from other vehicles, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The incident is under investigation, and reckless driving has been cited as the suspected cause of the crash.
Emergency services, including medical personnel and the South African Police Service, responded promptly and remain on site to manage the situation.
The Department extends its condolences to the family of the deceased and wishes a swift recovery to all those injured. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution, adhere to speed limits, and avoid dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, especially on barrier lines, to prevent similar tragedies.
