Bakkie loaded with dagga worth R2.6 million seized in Modimolle
An abandoned Toyota Hilux bakkie loaded with dagga worth R2.6 million was seized along the R33 between Vaalwater and Modimolle, Limpopo, on Saturday, 14 February 2026.
According to police, officers received intelligence at approximately 16:30 about three vehicles allegedly transporting dagga along the route.

The vehicles, a white Toyota Fortuner and two Toyota Hilux bakkies were reportedly travelling from Gauteng towards Modimolle on the N1 northbound.
Police immediately activated an operation and soon spotted vehicles matching the description in the Vaalwater area, travelling at high speed.
When officers attempted to stop them, the drivers sped off, triggering a coordinated lookout with the assistance of private security companies.

One charcoal-coloured Toyota Hilux was eventually seized. However, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes on foot.
Upon searching the vehicles, the police discovered eight bags of dagga worth R2.6 million.
