18 people injured in R579 accident in Groblersdal

Eighteen people from two vehicles were injured after a truck collided with a light motor vehicle and later overturned on the R579 road between Leeufontein Corner and Corner Stone, outside Groblersdal, Limpopo on Thursday. 29 January 2026.

The truck was transporting 17 farm workers.

It is alleged that the white truck was travelling at a high rate of speed when it collided with a white Toyota Yaris. The truck then veered off the road and overturned down an embankment.

Seventeen passengers from the truck and one occupant from the light motor vehicle were treated for injuries at the scene before being transported to Groblersdal Hospital by paramedics from multiple private ambulance services.

The Mayor of Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, David Tladi has wished a speedy recovery to members of the public who were involved in the accident.
