25 scholar vehicles impounded in Waterberg and Capricorn
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has intensified efforts to ensure learner safety through a safer back-to-school operation conducted in Thabazimbi CBD, Limpopo, on 27 January 2026.
The operation, aimed at improving scholar transport compliance, was carried out by 12 officers who inspected a total of 86 vehicles. These included 2 buses, 75 taxis, and 7 SUVs used for learner transport services.

During the enforcement drive, officials issued 13 summonses for various offences, including violations of permit conditions and Professional Driving Permit (PRDP) requirements. As a result, 10 vehicles were impounded, comprising 2 buses, 5 taxis, and 3 SUVs found to be operating unlawfully.
In a separate operation in the Capricorn District, scholar transport enforcement continued at Seleteng Ramphele in the Mphahlele area. Authorities impounded an additional 15 vehicles, including 4 buses, 4 minibuses, 2 bakkies, and 5 seven-seaters.

The Department said these actions demonstrate its commitment to prioritizing learner safety and enforcing strict compliance within the transport sector. Operators are urged to regularize their services and put learner safety first.
