Number of fatalities in Limpopo floods increase to 25
The Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) in Limpopo, has confirmed that the death toll linked to ongoing floods across the province has risen to 25 since the onset of severe weather conditions in December 2025.
According to the department, three people are still missing, with one case reported in Mbaula and two in the Thulamela Local Municipality

CoGHSTA said most of the deaths were caused by drowning incidents, flooded rivers and collapsing infrastructure following persistent heavy rains. Several roads, bridges and households have also been damaged, displacing families in low-lying areas.
